AUBURN — Dorothy M. White, 95, of Rumford, died Saturday, April 14, at the Auburn Residential Care.
She was born in Mexico, on Jan. 4, 1917, the daughter of David and Elizabeth Knauer White, and she graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1934.
She worked at the South Portland Shipyard during World War II. Following the war, she waitressed and was a hostess at restaurants in Portland, including the Roma Cafe, Vallee’s Steak House and Theodore’s Restaurant, to name a few. She moved back to the Rumford/Mexico area in 1980 until 2006, when she moved to the Auburn Residential Care.
Survivors include a son, John White and his wife, Constance, of Cumberland Center; a grandson, Michael White and his wife, Karen, of Plymouth, Mass.; a granddaughter, Pamela White MacDonald and her husband, Tom, of North Reading, Mass.; a great-grandson, Jared MacDonald; and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn MacDonald of North Reading, Mass.; a nephew, Gary Wing and wife, Maureen, of Medford, Mass.; a nephew, James Austin and his fiancee, Jeanne MacDonald, of Rumford.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Wing and Eleanor Austin.
