It is election season already. Self-absorbed, indignant, entitled special interest groups are going to Augusta to angrily confront legislators working to protect taxpayers from government overreach.

They are then writing heavily slanted slam pieces like the one recently submitted by Mary Ann Larson (April 7) against State Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello on behalf of the so called “Maine First” group.

That, and other big government, pro-tax, anti-growth groups are very angry at Snowe-Mello. Not because she is a friendly, outgoing, hard-working, caring senator. They are angry because she voted for welfare reform, regulatory reform, pension reform, health insurance reform and tax reform, and is committed to exposing the waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer money at the Maine Turnpike Authority and other agencies.

Larson ended her criticism with “What about the children?”

If Sen. Snowe-Mello continues her work, maybe our children won’t have to leave Maine to look for jobs and opportunities elsewhere.
