DEAR SUN SPOTS: Please help. My husband lost two Bluetooth devices that cost $135. They come with a charger, but it’s no good without the devices.

One fell out of his shirt pocket when he was playing pool at Rack M Up. No one returned it.

The next he believes he lost at shows in Wells, where he picks up pallets for Steve Mason.

He is a truck driver and needs them as he can’t hear well, because the truck is so loud.

Please, if you find them, call us. We would be forever grateful and pay you for doing this. Thank you. — Tom, 841-4272, 353-6416

ANSWER: Perhaps you might try attaching the Bluetooth to his truck keys. That way he can’t leave without it!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On March 25 the Sun Journal ran a story about a no-kill shelter, Tommy’s Feral Felines Friends, but no address. I would like to send a donation to them. Where can I send it? — Robert, Bath

ANSWER: You can write to Norm Blais at P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236, or call 650-8374.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This letter is a warning to all consumers. My friend was working in Vermont and saw a half-hour commercial advertising wrinkle-free face cream for a $6.95 trial. He was gullible enough to give them his debit card number to get a sample.

He canceled his order more than once, but they have continued to draw $69.95 every two weeks against his wishes. Before he realized it, he had 13 overdraft fees of $35 each.

They left him so broke he had to borrow money to get gas to go to work. He is out more than $1,000.

This company has more than 1,500 complaints with the Better Business Bureau in New Jersey, where they are based.

I have emailed them every day for three weeks. They deny even having him as a customer let alone taking his money.

Never give your card number to anyone unless you know for sure they are reputable. — Roberta, Norway

ANSWER: Roberta offers very good advice. Also, if you find yourself in a similar situation, seek help from an expert. If her friend had gone to his bank, they may have been able to issue a stop payment order or even close his account to end the withdrawals before the damage was so extensive.

Be very careful with debit cards. They do not offer the same kind of protection from fraud as a traditional credit card. Once the money has been withdrawn from your bank account, it is very difficult (if not impossible) to get it back.

Another thing to beware of is companies that promise to “fix” your broken credit. Don’t believe it. The only way to repair your damaged credit is the slow but steady method of paying your bills promptly and gradually increasing your credit worthiness.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: About a year ago, I wrote and requested Easter cactus cuttings. I wanted to write and let readers know that the cuttings and plant I received are doing great! The cuttings have grown into nice plants and are showing tiny buds.
