AUBURN — Luke Farrago scattered a pair of hits and drew adequate run support as Edward Little kicked off its 2012 baseball season with a 3-1 victory over Erskine on Wednesday afternoon.

After the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the first frame, Nate Blais tied the contest for Edward Little with an RBI double in the sixth inning.

Blais and Sean Ford led the Red Eddies with two hits and one RBI apiece. Ford scored the third and final run on an infield error.

Shyler Scates led Erskine with an RBI double in the first inning.

Bangor 11, Mt. Blue 0

FARMINGTON — Curtis Worcester hurled five innings of one-hit baseball and received plenty of run support as Bangor cruised to a 11-0 victory in a KVAC season-opening matchup Wednesday.

Wyatt Frost, Christian Corneil and Parker Sanderson all pounded out multiple hits for Bangor in a balanced attack.

Bradley Jackson pitched the first two innings for Mt. Blue and was tagged with the loss.

Spruce Mountain 9, Mtn. Valley 3

RUMFORD — Ben Keene had three RBIs and scored three runs Wednesday as Spruce Mountain hustled to a 9-3 victory over Mountain Valley in and MVC action.

The Phoenix (1-0) jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the second inning and were never challenged. Eli Capen also contributed with two hits and two RBIs.

Lewiston 13, Oxford Hills 1

LEWISTON — Troy Hebert scored six times Wednesday to lead Lewiston to a 13-1 romp over Oxford Hills in an early-season KVAC boys’[ lacrosse matchup.

Shawn O’Connell and Chris Rancourt chipped in wit two goals apiece for the Blue Devils (2-0), while single tallies by Tanner Hubbard, Matt Melanson and Max Bolduc completed the scoring.

Tom LePage and Andrew Gaumont combined to make three saves for Lewiston. The Devils outshot their opponent 23-8 in a rather lopsided affair.

St. Dom’s 13, Camden Hills 0

AUBURN — Troy Haefele netted four goals and added four assists to lead St. Dom’s to a 13-0 romp over Camden Hills.

Nick Hatfield and Grant Carrier chipped in for the Saints (1-0) with three goals apiece, while Will Desmarais added two. A single tally from Pablo Lopez Pinardo completed the scoring.

Cody Rodrigue made three saves for St. Dom’s in the first half, while Ben Sawyer preserved the shutout with two saves in the final two quarters. Aidan Gordon turned aside seven shots for Camden Hills (0-2).

Oak Hill 13, Mountain Valley 0

WALES — Caleb Provost found the net five times Wednesday to propel Oak Hill to a 13-0 rout over Mountain Valley in MVC lacrosse action.

Brian Daniels chipped in for the Raiders (1-0) with three goals and two assists, while Jon Averill added two goals and three assists. Matt Martin made three saves to notch the shutout.

Sophomore keeper Mason Milligan turned aside 26 shots for the Falcons (1-1).

Softball

Leavitt 6, Oak Hill 2

WALES — Kate Ledwell sparked a three-run rally in the seventh inning to propel Leavitt to a 6-2 victory over Oak Hill in season-opening KVAC softball action.

Ledwell drove in Amy Castonguay to ignite the rally, while Castonguay led

the Hornets with two hits of her own. Libbie Gilbert also contributed with an RBI single.

Sadie Goulet went the distance for Oak Hill and was saddled with the loss.

Mtn. Valley 4, Spruce Mountain 1

RUMFORD —Lindsay Marston struck out five hitters in her varsity debut to lead Mountain Valley to a 4-1 victory over Spruce Mountain.

Kirstin Ridge hit a triple and Delaney Paterson and Hannah LaPointe hit doubles for the Falcons.

Losing pitcher Paula Despres struck out nine batters for the Phoenix. Alexi Deering tripled and scored the only run.
