DAVENPORT, Fla. — John E. Will, 80, a former resident of Jay, died Friday, April 13, at Heart of Florida Hospital.
He was born May 22, 1931, in Tonawanda, N.Y., to John and Clara (Muck) Will. He was a graduate of Tonawanda High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Sept. 21, 1957, in New York, he married Virginia Lyle. She passed away Sept. 25, 2006.
John worked for IP in Tonawanda and later transferred to the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, retiring in 1986. On July 24, 2008, in Mishawaka, Ind., he married the Rev. Shirley (Kimmey) Wilson. They made their home in Lewiston and wintered in Florida.
He attended the First Assembly of God Church on Hogan Road in Lewiston. John enjoyed wood working and wood carving; he also was an amateur ham radio operator. He was a member of the Improved Order of Redman in New York; Good Sam’s Club Pine Tree Gypsies of Maine, and the Wilton Rod & Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Will of Lewiston; his daughter, Margaret Maxim and her husband, Fred, of East Dixfield; his son, James Will and his wife, Sue, of Jay; two grandchildren, Jonathan Schisler and his wife, Megan, of Rumford and William Schisler of Portland; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Emily and Carter; his stepson, Gerald Wilson and wife, Debbie, of Granger, Ind.; and five stepgrandchildren, Tammy Weisweaver of Granger, Ind., Crystal Wilson, Joshua and Eric Holt of Mishawaka, Ind., and Christopher Holt of Elkhart, Ind.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Virginia Will; and his stepdaughter, Kathy Holt.
