STONEHAM — Procter & Gamble, through The P&G Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, recently awarded a $10,000 grant as part of their “Live, Learn and Thrive” program to The Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation to sponsor 10 disadvantaged Auburn-area children for Camp Susan Curtis: tuition-free summer programming in a residential camp setting available exclusively for Maine boys and girls who qualify for free or reduced school lunch under the USDA guidelines.

Each summer, approximately 500 children ages 8 to 17 from across the state enjoy an experiential outdoor curriculum designed to inspire, motivate and focus disadvantaged children toward high school graduation, higher education and life-long success – all cleverly disguised through the fun of a typical Maine summer camp experience.

At Camp Susan Curtis, Maine children and youth at risk of falling behind learn critical life skills, developing assets often neglected as a result of their economic challenges. Campers are invited to return year after year with 96 percent of long-term/leadership campers graduating from high school and almost eight out of 10 going on to some form of higher education. Camp Susan Curtis summer programming helps disadvantaged Maine children get off to a healthy start, receive access to education and build skills for life.
