Firefighters brave the heat and flames to battle a blaze that destroyed a home at 41 West Marginal Road in Brunswick shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday. A resident of Flying Point in Freeport saw the flames near the end of Merepoint peninsula and alerted the Brunswick Fire Department. Firefighters said the building, on a dead-end dirt road approximately 1,000 feet off West Marginal Road, was engulfed when they arrived. Tanker trucks from several surrounding communities were called on to help supply water. No one was hurt, but there was some damage to a neighbor’s garage.
