LEWISTON — Ora Gilligan Rooney, 93, of Lewiston, passed away on April 7, at Marshwood Nursing center.

She was born in Texas, Feb. 10, 1919, the daughter of Owen B. and Minney Harvey. She left home to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

After graduation, she became a reporter in Newark, N.J. She later worked as a reporter for WFAA Radio in Fort Worth, Texas.

She married Crawford Lynn Gilligan in 1946, who died in 1976. She later married Frank Rooney, a fellow reporter from Newark, N.J., who is deceased.

She is survived by a son, Crawford Lynn Gilligan Jr. of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a daughter, Lynn Margaret Gilligan Everhart of Camp Hill, Pa.; three grandchildren, Wilson Everhart III, Michael Lynn Everhart and Luke Gilligan; and three great-grandchildren.

At her request, funeral services were private.
