Confirmation, Sunday School

SUMNER — Confirmation Sunday will be held on April 29 during the 9 a.m. worship service at the Congregational Church of East Sumner.

The church will be honoring women at the monthly First Saturday Supper on May 5, at 5:30 p.m. The meal will include casseroles, salads and desserts. There will be raffle items following the meal. Donations will benefit the work of the church.

The school-year session of Sunday School will end on May 6 with presentations during morning worship and a hike to the falls behind the church at about 10:30 a.m. Summer Sunday School starts on May 13 and will include the planning, planting and maintenance of the Youth Garden.

The church is on Route 219 in East Sumner village at 50 Main St.

Food Pantry open May 1

OTISFIELD — The Food Pantry will be open from from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 1, at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 583-4780 or 627-4329.

Brazilian steak night

WEST PARIS — West Paris Baptist Church will host an exotic and delicious Brazilian Steak Night at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the church on 14 Church St.

The meal will consist of Brazilian-style marinated meats, a salad bar with unique Brazilian items and two Brazilian desserts.

Experience Brazilian culture, food and an inspirational story about what it’s like to live there. There will be a suggested donation of $5 per person; proceeds to benefit the Neighborly Niche Food Pantry of West Paris. RSVP by leaving a message on the answering machine at 674-3205 regarding how many will be coming.
