AUBURN — Kenneth L. Grover, 88, lost his battle with cancer on April 19, with his family around him, at the Hospice House.
Ken was born Aug. 17, 1923, to Morton Clyde and Ora Bickford Grover in Danville at the home he grew up in and lived in until his death. Ken attended Edward Little High School and Portland School of Fine and Applied Arts.
He joined the Army Air Corp. in 1942, serving overseas. On June 6, he married Muriel K. Henry in Gray. Ken was a past commander of the American Legion Post 86 of Gray. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 6 in New Gloucester and the DAV of Auburn. He was a 28-year member of the Danville Junction Grange 65.
He belonged to the Circus Model Builders Lot 1, two chapters of the Maine Woodcarver’s Association, Streaked Mt. and Poland Spring wood carvers, as well as several mineral clubs.
Ken is survived by his wife, Muriel of Danville; they had two children, Doris Ann Rollins and her husband, Curt, of Littleton and Bruce A. Grover and his wife, Persis, of Danville; he had five grandchildren, Andy Richardson of Houlton, Amy Doughty of Hainsville, Bruce A. Grover II of Raleigh, N.C., John Grover of Poland and Shelly Grover of Lewiston; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three siblings, Hazel Caton, Bernard Grover and Helen Royer.
The family wishes to thank all the family and friends that came to visit Ken in his last days.
