BRUNSWICK — Greater Brunswick PeaceWorks has announced that Stephanie Boucher will join the Peace Fair planning team in the role of fair coordinator.

Aug. 4 is the date set for the 8th annual Peace Fair to be held on the Brunswick Mall. The Peace Fair looks at and celebrates the growing interest around the world to create a new culture based on compassion and sustainable practices, one that grows as we learn to treat ourselves, each other and our natural resources with love rather than dominance.

Local artists, poets, activists and musicians offer many activities that are fun for the whole family.

Representatives of Maine’s network of nonprofits and community groups bring information and conversation around the many aspects of building peace in one’s self, in one’s local community and globally. In addition to activities including arts, crafts, music and perhaps some theater, space will be held for discussions related to the deep needs for human rights, justice, food, housing, a healthy environment, education and the interrelatedness of it all.

Boucher is excited to be a part of this year’s Peace Fair, and brings to it experience in permaculture design and sustainable living skills, education, DIY music venue hosting and food justice activism. She has also been active in the local Occupy Brunswick group.

Boucher encourages anyone interested in getting involved or sharing their ideas and visions for the 2012 Peace Fair to contact her or anyone on the organizing committee. She can be reached at [email protected]. For more about PeaceWorks visit wwwpeaceworksbrunswickme.org.
