LEWISTON — Lucille M. Gardner, 87, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 21, at her home.
She was born in Auburn, Dec. 15, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Georgianna Gardner. She attended schools in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in the early 1940s.
She lived her whole life in the Lewiston-Auburn area, working for 29 years at Tri County Mental Health until her retirement in 1987. Lucille was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and a communicant of Holy Family Church in Lewiston and was also a member of The Ladies of St. Anne.
For many years, she volunteered her services for the church and was an eucharistic minister, bringing communion to shut-ins in the community. In 1995, she was nominated for the prestigious “Jefferson Award” for her outstanding public service in the community. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends. She was also a very avid Red Sox fan.
Lucille is survived by four brothers, Alfred, Roland and Roger, all of Seattle, Wash., area and Robert of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents,she was predeceased by three brothers, Lucien, Armand and Maurice; and three sisters, Cecile, Jeanne and Simone.
