WILTON — Wilton Day Homemakers Extension Group met on April 11 at St. Luke Church. Twelve members were present.

A safety tip was shared by Connie warning about an IRS scam that phishes for information by email or fax. IRS would never send an email or fax requesting personal information.

Health tips shared included using buttermilk to fade age spots; preventing snoring by putting a 4.5 ounce can of tomato paste in a cotton T-shirt pocket and turning the shirt wrong side out to stop a person from rolling over into the snoring position; treating a sore tooth with vanilla extract and rinsing with warm water and salt; and treating dandruff by washing hair with lemon juice and rinsing with water.

The door prize was won by Cherilyn Klinker.

Wilton Day Extension Ladies recently went to Connie Reynold’s surprise birthday party. In attendance were Betty Douglas, Lillian Miller, Ann Storey, Beverly West, Lois King, Annette Spevak and Hazel Flagg.

A Flag Ceremony will be held at the Wilton Academy Hill School at 9 a.m. on May 19.

In committee reports, Lois reported that the county spring meeting will be on May 18; each member should bring one item to raffle off. Lois will bring a door prize.The Good Shepherd Food Bank needs 3000 senior bags each month in Auburn. The Garden Angel program is on hold due to funding. Senior Companions are in need of volunteers. Franklin County Emergency Management Agency has disaster response voluntary well-check information sheets.

Becky reported on trip to Acadia National Park on Aug. 11. Anyone interested in going needs to have $30 turned in by June 12. Members will carpool to Acadia then take a trolley on a 2 1/2 hour tour with a running commentary on the area. Friends and spouses are welcome. A minimum of 20 people are needed, with a maximum of 30.

The program was put on by Jean Rand, showing how to make cheese balls, stuffed mushrooms, meatballs in sauce, quiche, small wieners wrapped and buschetta. Dessert was cream puffs with ice cream and chocolate sauce.
