WINTHROP — Roberta V. Morse, 72, of the Morse Road, North Monmouth, died Tuesday, April 24, at Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Winthrop.
She was born in Patterson, N.Y. on May 14, 1939, the daughter of Leroy and Magdelina Sartori Smith. She graduated from Carmel High School in New York. She had worked as an event planner at a resort in New York, was a quality control inspector for a computer company and was a food service worker at a New York state mental institution.
When she moved to Maine, Roberta worked for a short time for Digital Equipment Company and later volunteered to teach Spanish at the Vineyard Christian School in Lewiston.
She was an avid reader. She enjoyed the challenge of board games, word games and cards — anything to stimulate the brain. She home schooled her two grandchildren. She was deeply rooted in her faith and was a member of the Pathway Vineyard Church in Lewiston. Roberta also had a love of animals and would often rescue them if they needed a home.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Leon Morse of North Monmouth; her children, Seriena Maserio and her partner, Irene Christiansen of Wingdale, N.Y., Bonnie Goyette and her husband, Paul of Monmouth and John Morse of Lewiston; a brother, Leroy “Skip” Smith and his wife, June of North Carolina; a sister, Patricia Morse of Leeds; five grandchildren, Michael, Adam, P.J., Heaven and Autumn; four great-grandchildren, Paige, Tori, Kylie and Landon; two nieces, Debbie and Chrissy; and a great-nephew, Dwayne.
