On Friday, April 29, the Western Maine Labor Council remembered 30 workers who died on the job in Maine in 2011. Here are are their names and the context in which they died.

Randy Allard, 43, Bucksport, April 11, 2011

A delivery truck driver, Allard was killed in a rollover accident on the causeway between Deer Isle and Little Deer Isle.

Peter Barnum, 35, Farmington, N.H., July 11, 2011

A truck driver, Barnum was killed in a collision with an Amtrak train in North Berwick.

Janice Brown, 54, Rockland, May 23, 2011

A Department of Health and Human Services caseworker, Brown was killed when her state-owned car crossed the centerline and swerved into the path of a loaded dump truck.

Ernest Bubar, 55, New Sharon, July 1, 2011

A farmer, Bubar was killed by a bull at Sandy River Farms as he tried to herd the animal back to the farm

Travis Butler, 37, St. Albans, Sept. 15, 2011

A truck driver, Butler died after his dump truck was struck by the trailer of a tractor-trailer that jackknifed on a sharp curve.

Donald Campbell, 56, Waldoboro, Oct. 5, 2011

A retired Army veteran and recreational pilot, Campbell died unexpectedly while on Mantinicus.

Stephen Coleman, 59, Dennistown Plantation, Sept. 20, 2011

A campground owner piloting a 14-foot boat, Coleman drowned in Moose River.

Danny Dodge, 23, Jackson, July 27, 2011

A construction worker, Dodge was killed when he was crushed by a backhoe while working on a natural gas line project in Bangor.

A teacher in SAD 49, Eldridge died in a car accident in Unity Township on the way to work.

A logger, Jordan died after he was pinned between a skidder and a tree while working a forest job in Orrington.

A construction worker, Ledue died after falling off scaffolding while removing bricks from a building in Auburn.

A clam-digger and caretaker, Lemont’s body was found on a beach in Phippsburg two weeks after he was last seen setting off into the Kennebec River in a small boat.

A heavy equipment operator, there is no information available on Nagel’s death.

A state park manager, Polackwich died peacefully at his residence at Two Lights State Park.

A commercial truck driver, Tuttle was killed when his rig transporting a load of potatoes failed to negotiate a turn and collided with a truck in Pitman.

Jerry Wallace, 68, Bath, Jan. 4, 2011

A fisherman, Wallace died at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
