This year marks the 20th anniversary of Roopers Beverage and Redemption.

In 1992, Steve Roop had a dream and acted on it.

Crammed into 1,000 square feet of space, Roopers Beverage and Redemption became a reality. And it all started with one part-time employee, a limited inventory and masses of bottles to count. But his hard work paid off when the neighborhood store quickly gained a reputation as the “place to go” for cold beer at a great price.

But not being one to stay idle, Roop didn’t stop there … and now Roopers Beverage and Redemption has three neighborhood stores in Lewiston and one in Auburn with a second location coming soon.

Ask Roop his formula for a successful business and he will quickly tell you that it’s all about a good working-relationship with your bank, customer satisfaction, community involvement, and treating your employees like family.

Roopers was awarded Small Business of the Year Award in 2004 by the Lewiston-Auburn Chamber of Commerce.

Roopers is very involved in the community, sponsoring youth sports and numerous charitable events.

They are a part of Healthy Androscoggin’s “Those Who Host Lose the Most.” So much has changed over the last 20 years and Roop takes great pride in each of his neighborhood stores. But one thing has never changed … reminding everyone to always drink responsibly.
