LISBON FALLS — Ethel “Dede” Bernier Medlen, 72, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, April 29, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Lisbon Falls, the daughter of Charles and Virginia “Goodwin” Bernier. She was a graduate of Lisbon High School, Class of 1957.
On May 1, 1976, she married Paul Medlen Sr. Dede worked at Bowdoin College in the art department retiring in 2007.
She was a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. Dede’s love for her family radiated through her beautiful smile which remained with her always. She was also a longtime member of the Toast Master’s Club and will be remembered for being the biggest supporter for all of her family’s sporting events.
Her survivors include her husband, Paul Medlen of Lisbon Falls; a daughter, Valerie Stevens of St. Thomas; sons, Rocky Stevens and his wife, Stacy, of Sabattus and Mark Stevens and wife, Gretchen, of Lisbon Falls; a sister, Lilly Robbins of Bryant Pond, a brother, Edward Bernier of Lisbon Falls; four stepsons, Gene Medlen of Portbarre, La., Ray Medlen and wife, Cyndi, of Lisbon Falls, Wayne Medlen and wife, Tonya, of Lewiston and Arty and wife, Brandi, of Munford, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, Troy Wright of Lisbon Falls.
Dede enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They included Jenn Kelly of Brunswick, Corey Dence of STTVI, Nathan Stevens of Virginia Beach, Va., Meagan Burnham and Mitchell Stevens of Sabattus, Amanda, MaKayla and Zachary Stevens of Lisbon Falls; great-grandchildren, Devon, Alden, Ashtyn and Colton.
She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Tina Wright.
The family wishes to give their special thanks to Dr. Trudy Chase and her staff for the loving care and devotion they provided for Dede the past few years.
