LEXINGTON, Va. — Harlan L. Emery Jr. of Auburn, went home to be with Jesus on April 27.

He was born Aug. 3, 1953, at Fort Bragg, N.C., to H.L. Emery Sr. and Mildred Antone. Harlan lived in both Maine and New Jersey, while he was growing up. He graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 1971.

Harlan enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and working on cars. He married the love of his life, Karen Hanrahan on Dec. 15, 1979. He had two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah.

He was a member of the Pathway Vineyard Church for more than 20 years. For the past five years, he drove tractor trailer for Smith Transport Inc., out of Pennsylvania, and worked for Perry Transport in Poland before that. Harlan’s best time driving was when he was an owner operator and he drove “The Midnight Express.”

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen Hanrahan; his beautiful daughters, Elizabeth and her husband, Peter Lederhouse and Sarah Bly, the apple of his eye, and his only granddaughter, Kathleen Marie Lederhouse; his brother, Scott and his wife, Sharon; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and one great-niece and nephew.
