PARIS — Three candidates are running for Jean Smart’s seat on the Board of Selectmen in the June elections.

Smart, who replaced Troy Ripley in 2010, said she’s not running again.

Nominations closed last week.

Robert Wessels, Gerald Kilgore and Alicia Cushman are running for the three-year term.

Nominations still are open for Selectman Kenneth West’s seat. He resigned last week with a year left on his term.

Nomination papers are due by 4:30 p.m. May 9.

There will be a candidates’ forum at 7 p.m. May 31 at the Town Office. Candidates will speak briefly about themselves and answer questions from the public, said Kathy Richardson, who is helping to organize the forum. Barbara Payne will moderate.

The forum will be broadcast on Norway-Paris Community TV several times before the election.

Edward Chouinard and Marjorie Risica are running for two open seats on the Paris Utility District Board of Trustees. Chouinard is an incumbent, and Risica is running to replace Alvin Barth, who is not seeking re-election.

On the SAD 17 board, Curtis Cole is running for re-election and is uncontested.

Elections will be held June 12, four days before the annual town meeting.
