SOUTH PORTLAND — Lorraine Beatrice Raymond Spaulding Coggins, 81, of South Portland, died April 30, at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Mechanic Falls, a daughter of Lawrence D. and Edith (Nay) Raymond. Lorraine was a 1949 graduate of Mechanic Falls High School. Following high school, Lorraine attended Rumford Community Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1953.

Lorraine worked as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City, N.J., for several years. She later worked as an industrial nurse for Burnham and Morrill, Fairchild’s and at the S.D. Warren Paper Mill. She also worked in area nursing homes and as a homecare nurse.

Family was the focus of her life.

In recent years, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, Abbie and the twins, Tim and Jason.

Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Lynn C. Meuse and her husband, Philip, of Gorham; two sons, Michael G. Spaulding and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston and Robert L. Spaulding and his wife, Susan, of Wallkill, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Ruth A. Snyder of South Portland; three nephews; and several cousins.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents; a half brother, Lt. Lawrence Dana Raymond Jr. during World War II; and a brother, Roger Raymond.
