NORWAY — A Windham teen was charged Saturday with breaking into a Norway home and assaulting a man and a teenager there with baseball bats.

John Leo Taylor Golder, 18, of 15 Sylvan Ave. in Windham, was charged with burglary and two counts of aggravated assault, according to a police report. A juvenile who was with him may also face charges, as well as two other teens who victims said were involved in the attack.

According to a report by officer Robert Federico II of the Norway Police Department, police responded to a call on Crockett Ridge Road on Saturday afternoon for an assault involving several juveniles.

The victims said attackers forced their way into the home after being told to leave, attacked a teen and a 56-year-old man with bats, punching and kicking them after they were on the ground and couldn’t defend themselves, the report said.

On the way to the scene, Federico passed a car that matched the description of the car the assailants were riding. Federico and Sgt. Rickie Jack of the Oxford Police Department pulled the car over while Norway and Paris officers drove to the home.

Federico wrote that the driver and two passengers denied any knowledge of an attack. Federico said he saw baseball bats on the floor in the car.

Golder told Federico he had driven his two cousins to the Norway home and they entered it but were not in the car.

The victims identified Golder and three others, including a juvenile who was riding with Golder when police stopped him, as the assailants.

Golder has been released on $200 cash bail.
