BETHEL — Police are asking the public for help in their search for a Bethel woman who has been missing for nearly two months.
Fay Johnson, 62, was last seen in Bethel on March 7 as she was moving into a new apartment, according to a press release from the Maine State Police. There has been no activity on her bank accounts or cell phone since early March.
Johnson is 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and weighs between 140 and 170 pounds. Police say Johnson is bipolar, has been treated for depression, and has several health issues. She wears a medical alert bracelet marked “pacemaker,” according to police.
The Maine State Police and Oxford County Sheriff’s office have been investigating the case. They have been investigating a report of a woman matching Johnson’s description seen on Alfred Street in Biddeford on May 1, according to police.
Police say that Johnson has ties to both Lewiston and Biddeford.
Police have been responding to reported sightings of the missing woman from the start.
In March, Capt. Hart Daley of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said at the time that “very credible” sources had reported contact with Johnson.
But after what appeared to be solid leads, Johnson has remained among the missing.
Johnson’s landlord alerted authorities on March 12 of a dog that had been left at the home when he realized he hadn’t seen Johnson lately. An animal control officer took the dog, but Johnson still hasn’t been back to the home.
Police are asking anyone who have seen Fay Johnson or someone matching her description to call the Maine State Police in Gray at 1-800-228-0857 or dial 911 on a cell phone.
