Ariana Touchette-Ruiz, 6, of Lewiston, shows her karate moves at a “5-2-1-0 de Mayo!” health celebration at Lewiston Middle School on Saturday. “We chose this school because over one-third of the students are overweight or obese,” said Jim Lysen, executive director of Community Clinical Services Inc. “We want to show kids that good health is not just going to the doctor. It’s eating better and exercising right, too.” The program promotes the message that kids each day should eat at least five fruits and vegetables, limit screen time to two hours, exercise at least one hour and consume no sugary drinks. The celebration was sponsored by Let’s Go Androscoggin.
