WALES — Lakeside Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Grange-Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road. The group will be honoring mothers and district deputies, with Judith Tufts, district deputy grand matron of district 4 as a special guest.

Rodney Woodrum, who was ill at the last meeting, will be installed as marshal.

Colored gowns will be worn by the lady officers; men will wear tuxes or dark suits. Light refreshments will follow the meeting.

On April 29, some of the membership helped celebrate Thelda Dobbins 98th birthday. She will be an 80-year member in November.

Members are reminded that Grand Chapter is May 13-16 at Kora Shrine Temple in Lewiston.

At the March 13 annual meeting the chapter elected officers for the coming year. The stated meeting was held April 10 at the Grange Masonic Hall and concluded with the installation of officers for 2012-13.

The installing suite was Sister Judith A. Tufts, district deputy grand matron, as installing matron; Brother Bernald W. Tufts, grand sentinel, as installing patron. Installing marshal was Sister Corley Anne Byras, grand secretary; installing chaplain, Sister Sandra Dunlap, past matron, Pine Cone Chapter 26, Auburn; installing organist, Sister Eleanor Peterson, past matron, Pine Cone 26, installing warder, Sister Betty Perkins, past matron, Pine Cone Chapter 26; and installing sentinel, Brother Richard Nadeau, master of Webster Lodge.

After a brief recess to prepare the chapter room, the installing marshal led the 17 of the 18 new Lakeside Officers into the chapter room to take their oaths of office. Those installed were Sonia Woodrum, worthy matron; Brett Jervis, worthy patron; Lucille Bauer, associate matron; Stanton Leighton, associate patron; Violet Gerber, secretary; Clarinda Andrews, treasurer; Jocelyne Jervis, conductress; Cynthia Holbrook, associate conductress; Edward Webber, chaplain; James Witherell, organist; Ruth Wheeler, Adah; Rachel Nadeau, Ruth; Elizabeth Leighton, Esther; Arlene Witherell, Martha; Judith Bourget, Electa; F. Jordan Witherell, warder; Yvonne Winslow, sentinel.

At the direction of the installing matron, the installing marshal proclaimed all the officers installed with the exception of the marshal, Rodney Woodrum, who was ill.

There was an exchange of gifts and the associate matron presented the junior past matron with the jewel of Gertrude Earley, past matron. Honorary memberships were presented to Corley Anne Byras, grand secretary; Judith Tufts, district deputy grand matron of District 4; and Bernald Tufts, grand sentinel, for their help and encouragement of Lakeside Chapter.

After closing the chapter, 35 officers and guests from eight chapters retired to the dining hall to enjoy a meal.
