The route by which John W. Bibber went home the night on which he was murdered has been ascertained. Contrary to all theories and beliefs he did not walk up Main, Sabatis and Oak streets, nor did he reach his home by the way of Elm and Oak streets. Neither did he cross the vacant White lot, as has been suggested. He rode from the head of Lisbon street to Frye street, left the car there and walked down to Oak and thence to the point where he was shot down by the assassin. Theodore Hamel, a barber who works at 77 Chestnut street, Lewiston, fixes this beyond question. On the night of the murder, April 24, Hamel boarded the car for the fairgrounds. On the car was Mr. Bibber.

A herd of eight saddle horses invaded the median strip of the Maine Turnpike, just south of the Auburn interchange, today, but were rounded up western-style without incident. State troopers were called in force, the owner located, and the horses, which had been walking across both lanes, were lassoed into captivity and returned to their customary grazing grounds.
