HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Warren S. Goding, 84, died Wednesday, April 11, at NMS Healthcare, where he had resided since November.

Warren was born in Canton, April 3, 1928, the son of Edward L. and Ethel DeMerritt Goding. He graduated from Canton High School and attended Gordon Christian College in Wenham, Mass., studying theology and missions. He then attended McLean Nursing School, where he earned his RN degree.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Japan. Upon returning, he worked for many years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as a registered nurse. He later moved to Hagerstown, Md., where he was the plant nurse for the London Fog Factory.

In his early years, he enjoyed travel and spent many summers at Cape Cod. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking. In the later years, he was an avid reader with a large library. He liked keeping in touch with family and friends. He would correspond with many old classmates and co-workers. He attended services at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hagerstown.

Warren is survived by his nieces, Sylvia Crafts of North Jay and Althea Conant of West Paris; a nephew, Robert Goding of Canton; his dear friends and caregivers, Clair Johannsen of Hagerstown, Md., and Kenneth Lundberg and Manny Lopez of Fairfield, Pa.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Carl Goding, Lawrence Goding and his wife, Madeline, Ralph Goding and his wife, Florence; and his longtime companion, Donald Gillett.

He will be remembered as a king uncle, who always remembered special occasions and enjoyed keeping up with the young ones’ school activities and sports. He will be dearly missed.
