LEWISTON — Dorothy A. Jalbert died March 19, following a short stay at the Marshwood Center.

She was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Lewiston. She lived most of her life in Lewiston and Auburn, attended schools in both cities and worked in the shoe industry, until she retired. For 34 years, she was the wife of Emile (Sookie) Jalbert, now deceased.

Dorothy leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Michael Hopkins of Hollis, N.H.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a sister; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, all of whom will miss her greatly for her sense of humor and the sparkle in her eyes.

A son by an earlier marriage, Richard E. Charest, died in 2009 and is buried in the Veterans Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.

Services will be held privately with family in Massachusetts.
