NORWAY — Ellen M. Snow, 82, of Norway died Tuesday, May 8, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Norway, Nov. 25, 1929, the daughter of George Murphy Sr. and Myrtle Grover Murphy. She attended Norway schools and had been employed at the Norway Diner, B & M and Newberry’s before opening Ellen’s Talk of the Town starting in the early 70s. She operated Ellen’s for more than 20 years.

She married Stephen Snow on Sept. 7, 1948. She was an avid beano player and NASCAR fan, as well as being an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She volunteered at the Maine Veterans’ Home and was a member of the American Legion 82 Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son, Ronald S. of Norway; granddaughters, Christy Kaster and husband, Nick, of Minneapolis, Minn., Elizabeth Snow of Pasco, Wash., Joanna Snow of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Stephanie Snow and Haakon Teceno; three great-granddaughters, Hakon, Wryle and Bella-Donna; a great-grandson, Teddy Kaster; her son, Alfred P. and his significant other, Mary Benson, of Norway; her son, Stephen M. and Penny Baker, of Freeport; brothers, George Murphy Jr. of Georgia, and Michael Murphy of Portland; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1993; a daughter-in-law, Donna B. Snow; and a brother, Elwood Chapman.
