LIVERMORE FALLS — Tyler Foster belted an RBI single in the seventh inning to lift Winthrop to a 3-2 victory over Spruce Mountain in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

The Ramblers (4-2) held a 2-1 advantage in the second frame. The Phoenix (4-5) tied the contest in the sixth with an RBI-single by Jake Bessey.

Eli Capen led Spruce Mountain with two hits highlighted by a double.

Lewiston 11, Brunswick 3

LEWISTON — Matt Bowen scattered four hits and drew ample run support as Lewiston hustled to a 11-3 win over Brunswick in a KVAC baseball tilt Wednesday.

Corbin Hyde led the Blue Devils (6-3) with four hits and three RBIs, while Nate Berube, Chris Madden and Alex Small all pounded out two hits. Lewiston jumped out to a 4-1 advantage in the first frame and was never challenged.

The winless Dragons (0-8) were paced by Garrett Erb with an RBI double, while Chris Larson was tagged with the loss.

Gould 6, Hebron 1

HEBRON — The Gould baseball squad erupted for four runs in the sixth inning and pulled away to record a 6-1 win over Hebron in a prep school baseball matchup Wednesday.

Spencer Couch belted a two-run double in the sixth frame to lead Gould (7-7) at the plate. Alex Manning, Cody Bulen and Couch all had multiple hits.

Eliot List went the distance for Hebron (2-8) and took the loss.

Mt. Abram 1, Carrabec 0

SALEM — Arthur Ryan scored on a passed ball Wednesday to give Mt. Abram a 1-0 victory over Carrabec in a mid-season baseball matchup shortened by rain.

Josh Beede was stellar on the mound for Mt. Abram (2-5), striking out nine and giving up just two hits in four and a half innings of work. Ryan led his squad with two hits in the contest.

Telstar 8, Mountain Valley 2

BETHEL — Corey Howard belted a bases-loaded single in the third inning as Telstar raced away to post a 8-2 win over Mountain Valley in a mid-season MVC baseball tilt.

Kyle Peterson scattered four hits and helped his own cause with two hits to lead the Rebels (5-1). Howard’s timely hit ignited a three-run frame for Telstar, giving the Rebels control of the contest.

The Falcons (4-3) received two hits from Zack Radcliffe, while Kyle Gauvin was tagged with the loss.

Leavitt 8, MCI 2

PITTSFIELD — Senior pitcher Tim Dow tossed a nine-strikeout complete game to aid Leavitt in an 8-2 victory over Maine Central Institute in baseball action Wednesday.

The Hornets (4-4) posted two runs each of the last four innings, and matched the run count with eight hits.

Third baseman Zachary Fortin had a base hit and scored a run for the Huskies (0-7).

Falmouth 8, Poland 4

POLAND — Will DiAgostino peppered three hits to lead Falmouth to an 8-4 victory over Poland in baseball action Wednesday.

The Yachtsmen (6-0) scored five runs in the first inning. Andrew Emple posted a home run for Falmouth.

Shawn Murphy provided a pair of singles and Dillon Douglass cracked a double for the Knights (2-5).

Dirigo 9, Madison 4

MADISON — Junior pitcher Spencer Trenoweth fanned five as Dirigo grabbed a 9-4 victory over Madison in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Chad Snowman had a sacrifice fly to plate a run in the first and doubled in a pair in the second inning for the Cougars (8-1).

Garrett Emery and Travis Emerson slated a pair of hits each for the Bulldogs (4-4).

Lacrosse

Maranacook 15, Mt. Blue 2

FARMINGTON — Toby Smith led a group of five players to tally goals as Maranacook overpowered Mt. Blue 15-2 in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Smith registered a hat trick to lead the Black Bears, while Zack Glazier, Luke Evans and Alex Tooth all added two goals. A single tally by Jessie Evans (who also made three assists) completed the scoring.

Sam Taylor and Matt Smith each scored a goal for Mt. Blue. Zach Bessett made seven saves for Maranacook, while John Andrews turned aside 13 shots on the cage for Mt. Blue.

Hebron 5, Berwick 4

HEBRON — Sam Cloutier and Kyle Bernier scored a pair of goals each to lead Hebron to a 5-4 triumph over Berwick in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

The Lumberjacks (7-5) put two goals on the board before the half. Jake Taghon scored the remaining Hebron goal.

Mitch Rodgers recorded two goals and an assist for Berwick as both teams posted three goals each in the third quarter.

Alex Katz and Will Reis notched a single tally for Berwick.

St. Dom’s 18, Mountain Valley 2

AUBURN — Anthony Fagone punched in four goals and teammate Troy Haefele scored two and was credited with nine assists as St. Dom’s made it look easy and rolled to an 18-2 victory over Mountain Valley in a boys’ lacrosse game Wednesday.

The undefeated Saints (6-0) built an 18-0 lead by halftime.

Haefele was in on a bunch of goals with his nine assists. Grant Carrier, Nick Hatfield, Chris Finlay and Dalton Lorenz each scored two goals. Will Desmarais, Pablo Lopez Pinardo, Matt Chasse and Kenton Ernst rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.

For Mountain Valley, Austin Glover and Nate Nicols each scored a goal in the third quarter.
