AUBURN — Hardy, Wolf and Downing won its second game of the year in Auburn Suburban Little League, shutting out Auburn Fire Fighters, 7-0.
Mason Brushwein led the way with a complete-game shutout. Jacob Dubuc, Alex Thompson and Ian Brushwein led the way offensively.
HWD continued its winning ways on Monday with a 22-8 win over Austin Associates.
Alex Thompson was the winning hurler. Jacob Dubuc, Thompson and Isaac Dumont led a balanced hitting attack. Jake Arel and Jason Taylor played great defense for Austin with Gage Doucette pitching strong relief.
Gifford’s Ice Cream also scored two ASLL victories.
First up was an 11-1 triumph over Austin Associates. Caleb Hebert led the offense with a home run and a double. Seth Kolreg, Ethan Brown and Austin Brown were also repeat hitters for Gifford’s. For Austin’s, Jayson Taylor and Nick Hartley hit safely. Nick Hathaway was the winning pitcher.
In the second victory, Gifford’s fought off Pepsi, 5-1. Caleb Hebert and Ethan Brown pitched well to outduel Ryan Kappelman and Nate Farnsworth in the well-played contest.
New Auburn/South Lewiston
Poisson’s of New Auburn Little League improved its record to 2-2 with a 7-4 win over South Lewiston Little League’s Dube Gravel in a major division game.
Both teams scored three runs each in the first inning before the pitching and defense took over. B.J. Demers picked up the win for Poisson’s, giving up four runs off of seven hits and two walks over five innings with eight strikeouts. Andre Coachman got the save, collecting two strikeouts in the sixth.
Down 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Brandon Donahue got the inning started with a single. Three batters latter, Josh Hamels gave Poisson’s the lead with a two run double. Demers added an RBI single later in the inning.
Dube Gravel’s Keegen Voss took to the mound late in the first with the game tied at three and got out of a bases-loaded jam with three strikeouts. He fanned 12 over four innings. Voss also had two hits, and Ben Ferrence went 3-for-3 at the plate for Dube Gravel.
