JAY — The Tri Town Community Garden Project will host a community construction workshop to build a raised bed garden. It will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19.

Volunteers will meet in the parking lot at the Jay Community Building off Community Drive. The gardens are going to be built in the back of the Spruce Mountain Middle School, on the hill overlooking Route 4.

Project coordinator, seventh-grader Trevor Doiron, said the day will consist of breaking sod, constructing the raised beds out of hemlock 2 inches by 10 inches, laying down rough landscaping fabric, filling the raised beds with loam and planting and transplanting seeds.

A cooked lunch will be offered free of charge to all volunteers.

It is expected that construction will be done by 2 p.m. A small opening ceremony recognizing sponsors and community volunteers will follow.

Doiron asked that if people are planning to help with construction or have any more questions, to please contact him by email: doiron.trevor@yahoo.com or by phone at 578-8376.
