LISBON — A local man remained in jail Monday on $500 bail after his arrest on a charge of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon Sunday, officials said.

Richard Lamothe Jr., 32, of 19 Spring St., was booked at the police station and taken to the Androscoggin County jail, officials said. Bail was set at $1,000.

He was arraigned in 8th District Court on Monday and was being held at the county jail Monday night, with bail set at $500, according to a jail spokesman.

Police responded to the area of Village and Spring streets early Sunday morning after receiving a complaint of possible gunshots and arguing. Following interviews Lamothe was arrested and a 9 mm handgun was confiscated by police, Detective Bernard McAllister said.

The incident remained under investigation Monday, Detective McAllister said.
