BUCKFIELD — Voters at the annual town meeting June 16 will decide on a parliamentary procedure for the meeting, selectmen decided Monday night.

Interim Town Manager Dana Lee got board approval for Article 2, which leaves it up to residents to choose the parliamentary procedure to follow.

Article 1 is to choose a moderator. Lee said most moderators are familiar with the Maine Moderators Manual, which is a guide for parliamentary procedure at government meetings.

Vivian Wadas expressed concern that some motions from the floor were not allowed at the last town meeting and wanted to know what citizens could do in those situations.

Lee said anyone can call for a point of order and question the moderator’s ruling.

The annual town meeting begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School.

In other news Monday, Lee told the board there’s a mold problem in the basement of the Zadoc Long Free Library. He said he contacted four bio remediation companies and had estimates from two. He said he should have all proposals before the next meeting. He asked selectmen if they could approve tapping the emergency fund to pay for the work.

No decision was made until more information is obtained.

The board reviewed a draft outline for no-sort recycling. Selectmen Eileen Hotham and Robin Buswell asked about saving money and what would be the payback.

Lee said a committee would be charged with getting that information. The committee will include one selectman each from Buckfield and Sumner, Phil Savage and one of the transfer station staff, Treasurer Cindy Dunn and Lee.

Lee informed the board that a light and camera were installed at the transfer station and Swap Shop.

There will be a RSU 10 budget informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, in the Buckfield Town Office. A special selectmen’s meeting to approve the town meeting warrant will be held at 6 p.m.

The board accepted a bid of $1,800 for the 1985 compactor truck.

Selectmen signed the contract to provide ambulance service to Sumner for $4,600.The rate is $13.15 for 350 residents, the same as last year.

The meeting adjourned into executive session to discuss the town manager search.
