LIVERMORE FALLS — The Board of Appeals voted unanimously Thursday to grant a variance allowing a resident to build a garage no closer than 7 feet from a right of way, Code Enforcement Officer James Butler Jr. said Monday.

Butler had previously denied a building permit to Eric Coffman of 54 Park St. for a 24- by 32-foot garage, 7 feet from the 66-foot state right  of  way from the road. The state’s right of way is 33 feet on each side of the centerline of the road, Butler said.

The denial was based on it not conforming to the town building lot ordinance that requires a 25-foot setback from the right of way along a public road or travel way, Butler said.
