UNION, Maine — A 32-year-old woman was arrested Friday after she arrived at her child’s elementary school while under the influence of alcohol, according to state police.

Jennifer Marriner was arrested for operating under the influence after she drove to the Union Elementary School to pick up her child.

Sgt. Patrick Hood said that when the mother arrived, a school official called state police, and he was nearby and responded within a few minutes.
The school did not release the child to the mother before Hood arrived.

Her blood alcohol level was greater than the 0.08 level at which a person is deemed to be under the influence, Hood said.

She was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland and released on bail.

It was not immediately clear who was contacted to care for the child.
