OLD ORCHARD BEACH, MAINE — Armand B. Lapointe, 85, successful real estate entrepreneur for over 45 years, passed away May 15, after a long battle with heart and lung disease. He was surrounded by more than 20 family members in the comfort of his own home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Bristol, Ct., and educated in Canada.
He was a self-made individual. He left home for lumberjack work in northern Maine, and later worked in the Bates Mill in Lewiston, where he lived for over 16 years.
He was top salesman of New England as a door-to-door salesman of Electrolux Vacuums. His business endeavors encompassed family motels and real estate in southern Maine and in Florida. He built and operated the Beau Rivage Motel in Old Orchard Beach from 1965 to 1983.
He enjoyed wrestling, traveling, car racing, playing cards, auctions, joking, laughing, teasing and spending time with his family.
Armand is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lena Marie (Poirier) Lapointe, whom he married Jan. 3, 1948; his sons, John R. Lapointe and wife, Jo-Ann, and their son, Michael, and Ronald C. Lapointe and wife, June, and their three children, Jocelynn, Jessica and Renald; his daughter, Joan (Lapointe) Irish, and her husband, Jeff, and their four daughters, Susan, Cassandra, Tiffany, and Allison. Also surviving are brothers and sisters from the Quebec region of Canada: Jeanine Danis and her husband, Andre, Marie-Reine Racicot and her husband, Roger, Hervé Lapointe, Elizabeth Lamoureux and her husband, Martial, and Victorin Lapointe and his wife, Irène Choquette. He is predeceased by his brother, Fernand Lapointe; and his sister, Fernande Hutchins.
