LEWISTON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at the Ramada Inn.

A social half hour will be followed by lunch at noon. After the speaker, there will be a business meeting conducted by Richard St. Amand, president, with readings of reports by Leo Sirois, secretary, and Paul Ouellette, treasurer. Any old or new business will be discussed.

The Legislative Committee members Claire Breton and Roland Metayer will give a report on recent federal and state news and affiliated issues of interest to the NARFE members.

Guest speaker will be Rayette Hudon, traffic safety specialist, AAA Northern New England. Her presentation is entitled “Keeping the Keys,” helping seniors stay on the road as long as safely possible. She will give an overview of resources and information available to help older drivers be proactive in managing their driving careers, recognizing changes in driving that come with age and planning ahead for continued mobility.

Hudon’s position focuses on mature operators and teen drivers. She is a AAA certified driver improvement lead instructor, and CarFit instructor involved in transportation for approximately 25 years. She has served as president and executive director of the Maine Association for Pupil Transportation, as a member of the Maine Highway Safety Commission and was a founding member of the Maine Transportation Safety Coalition, also serving as director of special projects. She resides in Freeport.

Plans for the meeting were formulated at a board meeting at the Ramada on April 24 attended by Richard St. Amand, Jayne Bickford, Leo Sirois, Doris Hamel, Claire Breton, Roland Metayer and Martha Robinson.
