BUCKFIELD — Renowned jugglers Jay Gilligan and Wes Peden will launch a 21-city tour of the United States and Canada with a performance at Buckfield Junior Senior High School. The show will be at 7 p.m. Monday, May 21.

“Shoebox Tour 2012” is a compilation of new material in the “modern juggling” style, focusing on the artistic presentation of virtuosic object manipulation. Gilligan and Peden will present 725 new tricks written for four hands.

Gilligan regularly performs with the top circuses throughout the world, including Cirque du Soleil, Cirkus Cirkor, Cie Jerome Thomas and the Gandini Juggling Project.

He holds the most gold medals ever awarded in the history of the International Jugglers’ Association and is head teacher of juggling at Dans och Cirkushogskolan, the Swedish National Circus School in Stockholm, Sweden. He has performed for the Queen of England. The New York Times has called his juggling “marvelous.”

Peden won the Bronze Medal at the 33rd Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, the most prestigious international circus festival for new performers. He has performed in 17 countries, including shows for the king and queen of Sweden. He graduated from Dans och Cirkushogskolan with a degree in juggling and holds a juggling world record, according to The Guinness Book of World Records.

Gilligan and Peden are consistently ranked in the international juggling community’s annual Top 20. Gilligan has been in the Top 20 every year for the past decade; since entering the rankings six years ago, Peden has captured the No. 1 spot four times.
