As a citizen of Auburn, I am concerned and dismayed regarding the recent process by the city clerk’s office and the lack of adequate notification of the school budget referendum vote.

A conversation with Sue Clements Dellaire revealed that the “letter of the law” was followed, which included notification in a legal ad in the Sun Journal. Yet, school children were sent home with notices regarding the upcoming election.

The process appears unfair, biased, and not part of an effort to have greater participation by the citizens of Auburn.

As a retired educator, I understand the significance of an education; however, let us have an equal playing field here.

If we want to encourage greater participation that was not the way to accomplish it.
