NORWAY — Edson R. Staples Jr., 88, of Norway, passed away on Friday, May 18, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Lewiston on April 10, 1924, son of Edson R. Sr. and Pauline (Johnson) Staples.

He graduated from Oxford High School in the top 10 of a graduating class of 10.

Edson married Doris A. Keniston on Dec. 31, 1943.

He served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy as an electrician. While in the Navy he worked on dirigibles.

He worked for many years as an electrician at the Sled Factory and A.C. Lawrence Leather.

He enjoyed gardening.

Edson is survived by his wife, Doris; and son, Dennis Staples of Orrington.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Dayle Richards.
