Shame on the Sun Journal for publishing “Romney’s ‘hijinks’ a lot like bullying” on May 12.

I was hoping that the Sun Journal would take the high road during the upcoming elections and only publish articles that have some value other than to disparage a candidate or political party.

The family of Paul Lauber has stated that the article was factually incorrect and politically motivated, but that will not appear in the Sun Journal as by now it is old news.

Regardless of the candidate, political party or issue, I caution that before you decide to “cut and paste” from the Associated Press, you consider the true news value and accuracy of the article.

Editor’s note: The story referenced above, first published in the Washington Post on May 10, and then widely reported in print, online and on television, was about an alleged bullying incident between Mitt Romney and John Lauber when the boys were students at the Cranbrook School in Michigan. Lauber died of cancer in 2004 and his family has released a statement saying they were unaware of the alleged incident.
