Bean, ham supper

NORWAY — A traditional Western Maine Bean and Ham Supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St. All are invited. Take out meals, as well as quarts and pints of beans will be available.

The cost will be $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under age 10.

The menu will be baked ham, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, rolls cole slaw, salads, homemade dessert, coffee and juice. “Friday Feasts” frequently sell out. Proceeds from the supper will benefit the many missions of the Second Congregational Church.

Worship and church school is every Sunday at 10 a.m. For information, call the church office at 743-2290.

Library plant sale

BETHEL — The annual Bethel Library plant sale will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, on the lawn beside the library, 5 Broad St. The sale takes place rain or shine.

The sale has a reputation as one of the best places in Oxford County to buy perennials. Local gardeners donate weed-free, pesticide-free, healthy perennials that have outgrown the space in their gardens.

Homemakers yard sale

HEBRON — Rain or shine the East Hebron Extension Homemakers will hold a yard sale from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, at McCafferty’s Greenhouse, Townsend Road, East Hebron.

Money raised helps support the group’s community projects. This year’s activities will include lap robes and clothing protectors for several nursing homes, knit hats for the Dempsey Center and monetary donations to several organizations. Supper, Jones Band

PARIS — A supper and dance will take place on Saturday, June 2, at the South Paris Legion Hall on Church Street.

The turkey supper will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. for $7. Jones Band will perform at the dance, which is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for $5.

Other dances taking place this June will be on June 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. for $5.

Honey Bee Club workshop

WEST PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will hold a workshop at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2. This workshop will be a field trip held at Elk Farm on Route 26.

Paul Szott and his son Andrew will give an open beehive demonstration on getting hives ready for honey flow, as well as the secret to producing clean supers. Participants should bring veils.

The group will meet at the Maine Ext. Corp. center on Route 26, South Paris, leaving at 1 p.m. For information call John Seilonen at 743-5009.

Church seeks sale items

NORWAY — Second Congregational Church is accepting donations for its annual yard sale to be held Aug. 25. The barn is open for drop offs.

Many local businesses will participate, resulting in miles of yard sales. Bruce and Pam Davison coordinate the sale. Prices are kept low so that items are affordable for all.
