LIVERMORE FALLS –  James R. Waite Sr., 76, a resident of Park Street, Livermore Falls, died unexpectedly, Saturday, May 26, at his home.

He was born September 21, 1935, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Harold and Bernice (Bouba) Waite.

James attended Lawrence High School.

On Sept. 28, 1950, he married his wife of 61 years, Beatrice Whitworth.

James worked in the receiving department of Gillette in Andover for 24 years before his retirement.

He enjoyed mowing his lawn, camping, the Red Sox and Patriots, but especially loved his time spent with his family and grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Waite of Livermore Falls; his sons, James R. Waite Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Taunton, Mass., Richard Waite and his wife, Cara, of Lawrence, Mass., and Joseph Waite of Lewiston; daughters, Linda Johnson and her husband, Jeff, of Englewood, Colo., Brenda D’Alberti and her husband, Leonard, of Massachusetts; Susan Waite and longtime companion, Chuck Lister of Livermore Falls; Barbara Eddy of Lawrence, Mass., and E.J. Waite of Lawrence, Mass., former sons-in-law, Dave Eddy and Mike Barker, both of Lawrence, Mass., siblings, Barbara Berg and her husband, Bill, of Massachusetts; Lawrence Waite and his wife, Sally, of Salem, N.H., and Carol Wholley and her husband, Walter, of Merrimac, Mass., 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; an infant daughter, Deborah Waite; and his sister, Bunny Travers.
