I read the article May 22 about the possibility of Lewiston’s Longley School being in session year-round. I am very pleased with the article.

I used to go to Longley when I was in elementary school, and I have to say that is a very wonderful plan. I agree that because the students at Longley school get poor test scores the plan would help them, and other students, become better students. I wish school officials had thought of that when I went to that school.

Longley is a great school, with amazing teachers and friendly kids, and it would be sad to see that school close.

I think all schools should go year-long, so the grades would be better and kids are not losing what they have learned. I know that when school let out for the summer and I came back in the fall, I did lose some information that would have helped me.

It would be so much easier on the kids who can’t speak or read much English.

The article made me smile, knowing that the students and the teachers are so excited for the plan to happen. Knowing the kids want to go to a year-round school shows me that school officials have gotten students excited about learning.

I think it is amazing that any students are willing to be in school longer and are excited.
