BRYANT POND — The Whitman Memorial Library hosted two guest speakers recently. Mike Daniels from the Bethel Citizen and Game Warden Norman E. Lewis spoke about their professions and answered questions from the audience.
Lewis also brought his search and rescue dog, Clyde. Both programs drew a good crowd.
The programs have stopped for the summer, but trustees hope to resume them in September. They also hope to have a couple of summer programs for children. On Saturday, Aug. 11, they plan to combine a scavenger hunt with a book sale. There should be something for everyone.
In addition to books purchased, TD Bank North donated “Full 60 to History: The Inside Story of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins, ” the library has two copies of “From Start to Finish” by local sculptor, Gil Whitman.
Patrons are asked to suggest books they would like to see in the library, telling Librarian Althea Hathaway.
People may now access their genealogy on the computers, as the library now has the program, Marvel Genealogy.

Also, “An Amish Family Reunion,” Mary Ellis; “Home Front,” Kristin Hannah; “The Rope,” Nevada Barr; “Private Games,” James Patterson; “The Hunger Games,” “Catching Fire,” Mockinjay,” Suzanne Collins; “When I Found You,” Second Hand Heart,” Catherine Hyde.
Also, “The Lost Years,” Mary Higgins Clark; “Heaven Is Here,” Stephanie Clark; “The Lucky One,” Nicholas Sparks; “The Witness,” Nora Roberts; “The Innocent,” David Baldacci; “The Life Boat,” Charlotte Rogan; “The Good Father,” Diane Chamberlain.
Those who do not have a library card are invited stop in any Tuesday or Thursday afternoon and sign up.
