JAY — Daughters of Isabella Circle 677, St. Rose of Lima, met on May 9 with the session called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Regent Denise Rodzen. The recitation of the rosary led by Chancellor Laurianne Castoguay was held.
A short-form conferral was held for new members, Cynthia Gilbert and Lisa Bilodeau. A long-form conferral will be held at a later date. Fern Doiron filled in for recording secretary Olive Couture. Doiron read the roll call of officers.
Communications were read, including a thank-you card from the family of Clara Landry, Tri-Town Fuel Assistance, Spruce Mountain High School and a thank-you from the second-graders of Jay Elementary School.
Rita Crowley, filling in for Inner Guard Karen Daniels, spoke abut the carnations that were sold after Masses on May 8 and 9. Proceeds went to Right to Life.
Yvonne Demillo sent a letter asking the Daughters if they could make salads for the church picnic that will be held Aug. 12 at the St. Rose Camp. St. Joseph from Farmington will join St. Rose again this year. There was a sign-up sheet.
Baccalaureate will be held on Friday, June 8, for Livermore Falls and Jay students. A reception will take place after the service at the parish hall and the Daughters were asked to make snacks. A sign-up sheet was available.
Report of the Standing Committee was read by Vice Regent Dorothy Morgan. Rita Crowley spoke about the Knights of Columbus free supper held on May 12. Scribe Kim Couture said she had put articles in the newspaper about the April business meeting, April social and the bean supper. She said she picked up items needed for the theme baskets that will be raffled at the fall bazaar.
A letter was received on Biennial Convention in Dearborn, Mich., Aug. 4 to 8. Kim Couture was asked to take the letter to the church office.
Rodzen spoke about the purchase of new tables for the parish hall. Couture was asked to see if the tables come in almond. The meeting adjourned at 9 p.m. with a closing prayer and ode.
