ROCKLAND — The Society for Human Resource Management, Maine State Human Resource Council awarded Maine human resources professionals with industry specific honors at the 2012 Maine Human Resources Convention at the Samoset Resort in Rockland.

It is the third year the SHRM Maine State HR Council has recognized leading human resource professionals across Maine.

This year, the HR Best Practice award was presented to the Lewiston Public Schools and the city of Lewiston, a shared service model for safety and HR department. The HR Best Practice award is presented to an employer or HR department who has created a best practice in the recruitment, development or retention of our state’s best asset and resource — our people.

Jackie Little accepted the award as the HR director overseeing this new model. This was a pilot program that started in 2011 and has positively impacted 1,160 employees. It has delivered better service to employees and taxpayers.
