FARMINGTON — Farmington Rotary is seeking Mt. Blue High Schools students who would like to participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program and community members who would like to learn a new culture by hosting an exchange student for the school year 2012-2013.

Rotary offers both a long-term and short-term exchange program to fit any student’s needs. The long-term program is for a whole academic school year and the short-term is a summer-based program that last four to six weeks. It is an opportunity to study abroad, learn a new culture and make lifelong friends during high school.

This fall Farmington Rotary and the community will host a 17-year-old student from Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. The student does well in school and loves meeting new people and wants to be a lawyer to fight for justice.

In the mother’s letter, she describes her child as well behaved, a mature teenager with a big heart, with the biggest strength being respect for parents and family.

To learn more about hosting a Rotary exchange student or participating as an outbound student, contact Farmington Rotary President Pauline Rodrigue at 778-4588 or club Youth Exchange Committee Chairman Al Feather at 778-3518.
