This is in response to a headline on an Associated Press article, printed in the Sun Journal May 25, “Maine churches raising money to fight gay marriage.”

The large print giveth and the small print taketh away approach strikes again. Only those who bother to read the article find out that “churches” should have a modifier, such as “a few,” or “some,” because 150 churches are a small portion of Maine’s churches.

I respectfully urge you to become more discriminating in indicating what “churches” or “Christians” support or oppose. And please reflect the differences in positions held across the conservative-fundamentalist to progressive-liberal spectrum more accurately in your headlines and articles.
