AUBURN —  On Friday, June 15, Percy’s Burrow will host Robert Fuller, author of “Unnatural Deaths,” a police procedure novel set in Coburn, Maine, a small town similar to many in Androscoggin County. 

Coburn’s major employer, a shoe factory, is slowly dying due to competition from cheap imported footwear. Stubborn fourth-generation owner Harvey Coburn is trying to keep it going out of loyalty to his employees and pride in the town that bears his great-grandfather’s name.

When Coburn is found shot to death on the woods road leading to his hunting camp, Martin Counihan, a Maine State Police detective, is tasked with finding the motive and killer.

The trail leads him to shadowy Russian gangsters and a New Jersey Mafia family. Franco-American characters also figure prominently in the novel, including Larry Pelletier, a prominent lawyer and lobbyist, who assists Counihan in his investigation.

Fuller, who practiced law in Maine for about 35 years and served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Navy as a reserve officer, will read from his book, speak briefly and answer questions from 3 until 5:30 p.m.
